Hi Church Family,

We hope you’re keeping well through this time. We pray for God’s strength and peace to fill you with hope and confidence during this season. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if we can help and support you at this time.

Our world is in upheaval at the moment, and there is so much need for breakthrough and miracles across the earth. From the Covid situation here in Australia and around the world to the chaos unfolding in Afghanistan, there is much need. This Sunday 22nd August is a National Day of Prayer across Australia, including all church denominations. We will be taking some time to pray specifically for Australia and Afghanistan in our service this Sunday.

I’d also like to invite you to consider contributing in a practical way to the needs that have surfaced in Afghanistan during this time for our Christian brothers and sisters. We will be putting information on our website with directions on how you can give financially to the needs there.

This is the latest update we have received from Ps John Hunt (ACC Missions Director):

“After speaking with our partners on the ground, we are most concerned for the lives and safety for Christian workers across the border in Afghanistan. Events are moving rapidly.

Those who are known to be believers are in mortal danger as they will become targets if reported to the Taliban.

The immediate and pressing need would be provide assistance to help them evacuate and resettle. Today we have prepared an ACCI Appeal for this purpose: to finance travel (flights, visas etc) and set-up costs to save the lives of these brave brothers and sisters in Christ.”

I encourage you to prayerfully consider how you can contribute to these pressing needs. Details on how to give can be found at citychurchau.com as we partner together with ACC Missions to directly support the people on the ground there. Together we can make a difference and bring Gods light into the darkness around us.

Finally, we deeply felt at the start of this year, Gods word over the year for City Church was ‘STRONGER’.
+Stronger in God
+Stronger in Community
+Stronger in Purpose

Job 17:9 - “The righteous keep moving forward, and those with clean hands become stronger and stronger. “

We are so grateful for a church that is growing stronger in these areas even through the challenging times we face together. God is faithful. Let’s keep moving forward together.

We love you and are so thankful for you Church!
